No, never. And if the union finally does break up what are the english supposed to call themselves seeing as this government doesnt allow english people to call themselves english? Will the pc lot insist we're non-welsh, non-scots, etc?!

Welll if anyone did they would know what it meant!
The United Kingdom, or to give its full title, The United Kingdom of Great Britain (i.e. England Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland, is just that, a collection of the kingdoms of the various countries that make up the U.K.
The U.K. comprises 4 distinct nationalities, with the English Nation representing around 88% of the total U.K. population, no wonder most foreign countries think of English being synomymous with British (poor little Welsh man take note) I for one stopped using the term British long ago and only describe myself as English and I have no desire to be associated with the scots or other nations of the U.K.

It sounds like the sort of thing that would be said by someone wearing dark glasses, a slouch hat and a long raincoat, in a strange accent.

further to raymo's answer it is indeed the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland as alexander walker testily reminded us before he died;i threw in the fatuous comment about his death as i cant think of anything else to say on this point except that be grateful that you are not from the irish republic as i get total strangers greeting me with 'hallo, paddy'

I think UK is dead, people want to know their selves as Scots, Welsh, Irish or English which of course is best.
