You have too many programs starting when you boot up. Go to Mike Lin's Home page and download the standalone EXE version. Put it on your desktop. Run it and uncheck all the boxes except your antivirus/antispyware software.

Unchecking a box does not remove the progtram, it simply keeps it from starting when you reboot. If you find you have stopped something you cannot live without, go back and check the box.

It depends what you have in the startup registry. The more things it has to load, the more time it requires. More Ram will help but only bypasses the problem. Ctrl,Alt,Del and click on processess and see which one is using most %age. Do a google and see if you really need it or not. (XP only)

As for BT, that wont slow it down.

Let us know what version of windows/ pc ur using.

Download an anti virus program like AntiVir or AVGFree and look for any viruses or trojans. a virus can slow your computer immensely.
In order to look for trojans you should also install HiJack on your computer. If it is still too slow you maybe should reinstall your computer. If you are not a computer expert you should ask someone for help who has a profound knowledge about computers.

I expect all your programs load on startup. Although that speeds them up when you open them, it slows your pc down when you start it up.
You can change which programs load when you boot your pc, all you want is Windows and your Security programs. (anti virus, firewall etc).

This will lead you to a couple of tutorials that explain how to manage the startup folder, there are a couple of different ways to do it, so look around and pick a tutorial that you can follow.

On startup, the computer fetches all the preload junk you have put on it (like yahoo messenger, drivers, os, and needed .dll's). This is why it is slown down. Mine is like that but I put wup with it since all the preload stuff is what I need to use mine. Plus, if it was overheating, it would shut off.

go to start then run type "msconfig" in the dialog box and then enter.
when the new box opens go to startup (top left box)
Look at athe the checked boxes and uncheck the ones you don't need.
You only really need your antivirus software and firewall starting up.Exit and restart see if it boots up quicker.
If not download Adaware and update then run a scan see what it finds.
Hope this helps

You need a faster computer. You might speed up your computer by adding more memory (RAM).

It doesn't have much to do with your disk unless the disk is getting full.
