hack, ive looked online and thought i found the solution when numerous web sites have stated that the player from tescos is the Wharfedale, however, having seen a picture, this is not it. so two questions: I beginning to think that tesco is the manufacturer :) well their logo is at least the splash screen.

1) does anyone know the model ID of this player
2) can anyone tell me how to hack this

Thanks for your help (ive been going around in circles)

I don;t know who the manufactuerer is, but it won't ne Tesco. They don't make anuthing themselves. They will have sourced it from somewhere, more than likely the far east, so its likely that you will find the same thing somewhere else with another brand, check out argos, currys, comet etc websites and see if you can see the same thing.

Tescos stopped marketing Wharfdale DVD players (the model was shite and wouldn`t play certain legal discs - Gladiator Disc 2 for one) sometime back.
There must be a brand name on the original packaging if you bought it legally. Why not try Tescos` website for a clue.
Many DVD players can be simply hacked with a code - some need a physical hack.

Just take it back to tesco and stop messing about.

if something doesnt even have a brand on it, that is a bad sign.
take it back to the store and ask for their help or just return it.
