Saving heat in what? Saving heat in the winter aka putting those draft stoppers under doors and sealing your windows.
Or saving heat as in you microwaved a sidedish that you're brining to a party?

Don't really put the heating on until about the start of November it can save a bit of heating.

Mostly by insulating and avoiding convection losses. While saving heat with gas burners the flames should only be covering the bottom of the pan and not its sides. Heat losses inside our apartments can be minimised by ensuring insulation is proper, there is no leakage i.e. open slits in windows, doors etc.

Instead of trying to warm food by heating them in the microwave or over the stove, try sitting on them.
