I am going to a baby shower on Saturday. The expecting mom is having twins. They know one of them is a girl, but aren't quite sure about the other. They are pretty sure they are both girls though. I was wondering do you get everything the same? I don't want to get clothes if they aren't sure if they are both girls. For example if I get a stuffed animal, do they both need to be the same or can they be different? I think it's ok if it's different but i'm not sure. Just wanted some advise on what to get. Thanks for your help.

If you are getting a stuffed animal, they could be different. Maybe one pink and one like a pretty pastel green, good for boys or girls.

Some of my fav baby shower gifts include:

Box of diapers (parents love this, diapers are soooo expensive)

Hooded animal towels from Pottery Barn (they have some that would be good for boys or girls)

Red Envelope doggy blankie (white with brown, perfect for either. my son got this for his birth and loves it.)

Robies shoes (google this, i'm not sure how to spell it) - they are shoes that feel like the baby is in bare feet (for older babies of course).

I tend to get gifts for later rather than sooner, as new parents often have a flood of essentials given, and early necessities.

I would do different - like same stuffed animal but two different colors or something like that. Check and see if she is registered for gifts someplace, than can give you a good idea as to what she might like. As for colors, if they don't know what the other twin will be you could choose green or purple as the color (I think both would be ok for either boy or girl). Have fun at the shower!

A friend of mine is having twins as well and we make sure that everything is at least a little different. Stuffed animals, she gets kitties he gets puppies. We match up themes and switch up colors. But with twins on the way the best gift was "The Medicine Bag" which was full of everyday medicines and ointments.

I think that a fingernail kit is good. Also, a thermometer and nose sucker. All are essential things I must say. Diapers are always good. Bears can be good for girls and boys and yellow and green are neutral colors. How about bibs or pacifiers?

Try a gift pack of diapers, wipes, and lotions. With twins, she'll need all the baby supplies she can get.

I think they can be different. Two different people - they just happen to be twins.
