I bought a new pump for an above ground pool and the hose size is different so I need to connect a 1 & 1/4 inch hose to a 1 & 1/2 inch hose and have it be air/water tight. Any suggestions...the guys and home depot were no help.

Check out the link below for what an insert adapter looks like. If you get one 1 1/4 x male thread adapter and one 1 1/2 x male thread adapter, then you can get an 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 bell reducer and screw each of the adapter in the reducer then use stainless steel clamps to hook your hoses to.

Home Depot needs a refresher course maybe.

A plumbing store or a for real plumber will have the adapter you require.
Also the pump manufacturer will definitely know, give him/her a call.

Also 1 more would be the pool company, they want you to have good plumbing so therefore they will be able to direct you to being a satisfied customer.

Good luck. ... 11/2 is a big hose. Make sure you mention ID measurement or OD (outside diameter)

Just need an adaptor and you can get them at any plumbing supply place or your local plumber. Home Depot does not always have the best folk for knowing about what you need.
