John Deere is a uniquely American company that was founded here and never outsources to other countries like most have done. It was founded in the Midwest, Moline, IL to be exact its' world headquarters is still there-it's called the Glass House, and has withstood the test of time. It's products, from combines to lawnmowers, are synonymous with high quality and durability. A good sized chunk of their old products still work and run well, as a matter of fact stuff built in the 20's and 30's are still used for their original purpose by many people. They also symbolize what Made in the USA is all about, high quality equipment that is the best there is in the world. Not only that they are also known as a great company with the type of jobs that pay an outstanding wage and take care of their workers.
During the 1980s when the 'farm crisis' was going on Deere was one of the few companies that made it through and is still here. Case, International Harvester, Caterpillar, Farmall were all hit hard by it, Farmall didn't survive it. Case and International Harvester merged, Caterpillar had to downsize but Deere made it though due to ingenuity and sound business decisions and still stands strong. While it had to lay off many of its' employees it was able to come through the tough times and remain strong, relying on its' quality workmanship and a strong workforce to see it through.
I grew up near Moline, IL and many of the people I knew worked for John Deere, as a matter of fact my Uncle is a retired Deere worker, working in their Foundry and building combines.
Nothing runs like a Deere!

John Deere has a long history of great reliable products meant usually for the farming industry.
But there has become a big following among homeowners also for the lawn tractors.
I know someone who has a large collection of John Deere items and memorabilia and all that he owns is a lawn tractor.
John Deere has been known for high end lawn tractors to come to your house and remove the deck portion and install the snow plow option for you every winter.
Customer service like this breeds customer loyalty and pride.
Just like I will be proud when you give me ten points for my most excellent answer
