HELLOO ! The water pump needs changing ! they get weak after a few years (Like 2 years). You need to change out the pump, the alarm that you hear is the "OVERHEAT" alarm going off because, there is NOT enough cooling water going through the motor, due to poor pump performance. Boat owner 20 years !

You have to lower the motor if it is an inboard/outboard or it will not start.
If it is water cooled, most are, then put a water circulation device on the bottom of the motor next to the prop where the vents are located. Turn on the hose to get a good flow.
The gas goes bad after 6 months or so.
drain the gas and change the plugs.
Check your battery and you should be good to go.

On my boat a warning horn means that it needs some oil in it, the problem with letting your boat sit for a season is that the gas can gum up your carberators, even if you had put stabilizer in the gas, I just had to pay 700.00 for that problem, also your water pump needs servicing every year, and the fuel pump. It is really expensive to own a boat and that is why I am trying to sell mine, want to buy it.

So many answers, so many guesses. Just call a few shops and get an estimate to have it inspected. Most will only charge 1 hour to check out. You will need to wait a few weeks, shops right now are busy. Most shops do an honest business, and just as this forum, without all the needed information, year make and horsepower and what did he do? How long did it run etc they or we can not properly diagnose your problem. Good luck.

If it didn't freeze , You might solve your problem by disconnecting the battery and hooking it back up. It could have a maintenance check stored for warranty purpose. If that works just keep a eye on the temp

Look at the owners manual or the library may have a manual on boat repair for your model.

Either heat (due to lack of water) or no oil (if it's 2-stroke no oil in the oil tank or not making it to the motor).

It could be over a dozen things. If you don't know what it is now, you won't figure it out yourself. Tell your guy to get off his *** and get someone to look at it.
