crease in my trunk. The tail lights are fine and it doesn't look like anything but my trunk was damaged. My FIL's truck is fine. My hubby is a truck driver and wont be back til Wednesday. I want to fix it before he gets home. If I find a trunk lid at a junkyard how hard will it be to take the old lid off and replace it? I did tell my husband, but I would realy like to fix it before he comes home. I have had 2 accidents in the last 5 years that are my fault and I just want to save as much face as possible. It's a 98 Neon.

should not betha thard to replace the trunk lid. Remove all ofthe cable and light and the lock assembly first, that take out the bolts from lid that attch to the hinges. Do this with the lid up or full open, get someone to help as the lid will want to slid down and it is kind of heavy.

Gooo luck

These kinds of issues are extremely hard to deal with considering that it involves family. But one thing is for sure that he gave you the truck right? Well, if he did then that truck is yours because of the fact that he gave it to you and you have invested money into maintaining it. If you just throw the fact that he's a drunk, you still have a right to keep it. Now since you do have all the information about what type of person he is, its harder to fathom the logic he is using in order to get that truck back. There are always 2 sides to a dispute and both parties can make an argument for their side. But to really have and objective answer how to resolve this issue a third party that has a fresh mind needs to intervene. In all honesty, as a third party you should keep the truck because he gave it to you for you to use. Whether if it was to be used as a daily driver, weekend car, or even to be sold for a down payment for anything, that truck is yours. One thing you have to take into consideration though is how your husband feels about it.....

I bet if you do some searching and asking really nicely, you can find a replacement trunk lid that is the same color as your car to avoid having it repainted. The trunk lid is not hard to change. It will take about 30 minutes with a helper. You will need a helper because it is kind of heavy and awkward to handle by yourself. Good Luck! I am sure your Husband appreciates your efforts in taking care of this yourself!

You can't cover this up . Even if you could change the trunk lid you would have to get it painted to match. Try taking it to several body shops and get estimates on the repairs. It might be just hinges that are messed up and they might be able to pop out dents without replacing the lid. If you can't get it done before your husband gets home at least you will be able to tell him that you have already handled getting the estimates .
