If you want any drastic change you'll need to get your hair lightened first - my hair is very dark brown and few dyes make much of a difference to it.
You could try going much darker - like blue-black, or you could try a plummy or auburn or purple colour but when your hair is so dark you are a bit limited really.
I had highlights put in my hair a few years ago - they used a strong bleach and the highlights were like a dark blonde/golden colour. My hair is long though so I wouldn't try to bleach it all over as it would probably just break off. If your hair is shorter you could have it lightened all over to a dark blond/golden colour and the either keep it like that or choose another colour to put over it like red or light brown. I know a woman with naturally black/dark brown hair who has had it bleached and it is a really lovely light golden blonde colour, it is really shiny and good condition as well. But her hair is a short bob - if you tried to do that to long hair it would break off.
Good luck!

Smellyteddy says:
"hi. You could try XXL Live purple it looks reli cool but your hair looks black in da dark but when the light catches it it goes a deep purple or you could try deep red tints or blood red that looks cool too."

You should try some lighter brown and dark red highlights. I think that would be very pretty.
