Hey dark0wn3r why don't you tell that to the tons of women in Eastern Europe who go to Germany and the Netherlands in search of a better life and end up being exploited in both pornography and sex clubs.

why do you say its only degrading to women??? arent there just as many men in the porn industry??? the fact of the matter is...prostitution and pornography is the oldest profession in the world. it has been around since the beginning of time and will be around when the world ends. you can love it or hate it but its never going to go away :)

Your question is a perfect example of dangerously simplistic thinking. Let’s start with the notion of degradation. You can degrade me by taking away my autonomy – my freedom of choice. You can degrade me by treating me like I don’t have the intellectual, spiritual, or emotional capacity to choose my own path. You can degrade me by tricking or forcing me to do something that will leave me feeling bad about myself and/or disempowered (e.g., ashamed, embarrassed, tricked, humiliated, etc.).
Now if a person is forced or tricked into pornography and thus feels angry, depressed, humiliated, etc., then I would agree that this is a bad thing. But what makes this situation degrading is NOT nudity or explicit sexuality. What makes this situation degrading is the loss of free choice that comes from being forced or tricked. If a person freely chooses to pose or perform sexually, then there is no degradation. YOU might not approve of their choices, but this is YOUR problem, not theirs. YOU are actually the one who is most likely to cause degradation because you are the one who would strip others of their freedom to choose. There is no degradation is stripping off your clothes – this is just a natural thing that many people enjoy doing – but there is degradation in being stripped of one’s personal power, and this is what you do when you devote your energy to limiting people’s freedom of erotic expression. Being naked is NOT degrading. Participating in forms of entertainment designed to elicit erotic desire is NOT degrading. Performing a sexual act for the entertainment of others is NOT degrading. YOU might feel degraded if you participated in porn because this is how you see the world, but this is just your personal preference. Only fools and tyrants think that their own personal preferences must apply to everyone.
There is a diversity of human preferences, and this is good. You seem to relish insulting the intelligence of millions of people who freely choose to participate in porn. Sure, you can always find examples of someone who was forced or tricked into some sort of harmful activity, but the vast majority of the people appearing in porn are choosing to do it of their own free will. If you REALLY wanted to reduce human degradation, you would campaign in favor of social diversity, and denounce those who try to make everyone conform to some abstract standards of taste inherited from ancient male-dominated societies. Our focus as a society should be on addressing violence, abuse, and the loss of personal choice. Efforts to rid the world of pornography are a waste of everyone’s time and resources, and do nothing to help the actual victims of truly degrading acts.

It depends. things can be tastefully done (think bettie paige!). or it can be children, or involve animals, or something that IS degrading (eg a video-tape of a rape).

i am a woman and i enjoy pornography...there is nothing wrong with porn if the people who participate in it are infact fine with what they do. Sex is beautiful and to some porn is considered an art. I dont see nothing wrong with pornography...if anything i find violent movies more wrongful then porno.

Girls, even the ones being 'exploited', like porn. People like to have sex, including women, and girls like the attention. If you don't like it, then don't watch it. Please allow those of us who do like it to continue to watch it in peace. Just because you dont like something does not mean that laws need to be enacted to reflect your opinion.
