Theoretically, if it were to sit in your stomach for as long as it could, it would take 7 years to decompose. Realistically, you will just poop it out. It will usually come out looking like the same piece of gum that you chewed, and it will smell like gum too! WOW! aka Poop-freshner.

The rumor about it taking 7 years is not true. It takes about as long as any other food to disintegrate in your stomach.

Well, mama always said not to swallow gum cause it would stay in there forever!! You probably will crap it out in a few days.

i believe that I've read that gum, despite what you have heard, takes less than a week to break down.
