Hostels were started for travelers who have little money...so
1- they are cheap
2- you meet fellow travelers
3- It is shelter and a safe place

As far as I know, you can't "live" in a hostel. They have time limits on how many nights in a row you can stay. That way they don't get people taking advantages of the lower rates.
Great way to travel cheap if you don't mind the lack of privacy and amenities and having to be up and gone by a certain time.

hostels are cheaper lodgings for mainly college students. they give generaly the same quality and normally you park your car in front of your room. you have access to your car easily. they are clean. leaving you with no worries of sickness. some also offer free breakfasts, savings in you wallet.
