I've never been to Japan, but I'm very happy living in New York City. That being said, I've met a lot of wonderful people from Japan over the years, so they must be doing something right over there. Somehow I imagine the cities quite a bit more crowded than in NY; & the language would be a BIT of a problem for me, since I can't speak or read a word of Japanese.

I'd like very much to visit Japan in the not-too-distant future. If I go & change my mind about NY, I'll come back and add a comment to the question - if I haven't gone completely native and given up writing in English.

I've personally been to both Tokyo and New York, and i would take Tokyo (or most cities in japan for that matter) over New York. The Japanese customs and traditions are so different. people are actually nice to each other on a regular basis.

After the attack on the United States by Japan, I will never go to Japan, so that would only leave New York. Right?

However, I live in Washington, D.C.

I love Tokyo but I couldn't handle living there for too long because:
1) Japan is still a mono-society so I'd never fully fit in
2) I don't speak Japanese well so I would need to learn a lot

I don't enjoy the NY winters. I prefer visiting cities and living somewhere a little more comfortable: California.

New York City, no question.

I prefer to not be treated as a second-class citizen in comparison to men. In New York City, everyone is a second-class citizen!
