Do you think that many republicans/ conservatives are extremely narrow minded?

as far as i have experianced conservatives are very narrow minded and hide behind their religion.

I don't think "hiding behind religion" is bad or accurate, first of all. people of good character have strong moral beliefs, and there is nothing wrong with that. everyone is allowed to believe in something/someone. I mean, do you think Muslims hide behind religion? Come on.

Also, liberals can be narrow-minded too. The basic hypocrisy is that they say they're so open-minded and tolerant, but what they really mean is that they're tolerant of everyone except for those that don't agree with them. They're open-minded as far as other liberals, but never open-minded to conservatives.

And conservatives are narrow-minded too, of course. If you have an absolute belief system, then you're narrow-minded. If anything goes, then you're more of an anarchist in my opinion.

Sure, people can say that they're open-minded, but that's really such a gray area and everyone has hidden prejudices.

I'm not saying that I think religion should be a huge part of gov't...it shouldn't, because there should be a separation b/t the two. But those who argue that religion has never done anything good for society should look at the laws regarding murderers. The Bible says not to murder, and the gov't agrees with this and wants those people to be punished. Is that too much morality for you?

The core of conservative thinking is to obey and protect the father figure regardless of ones actions not so much narrow minded but just not excepting guilt. Kinda like driving life without a rear view mirror or just caring about who is in the car. Progressive thought is more like we are all in this together and we are the family and have no problem helping social or people programs that help a part of the family even if they made mistakes. We just need to to weed out the abusers.

I think both parties are narrow minded. The left is narrow minded about only getting in office in '08. And the conservatives are narrow minded about Terrorism.

The very definition of Republican is one who is opposed to change. That makes them narrow minded. How any of them can support this president they have in office now is beyond me. There is nothing conservative about the way he spends the tax payers money. Of course, the rich (his base) are getting all the tax breaks.
And he certainly hides behind his religion. Being guilty of so many murders, I don't see how he can justity calling himself a Christian.

I think every politician is narrow minded in furthering his/her own carrier and agendas. It isn't limited to republicans. Narrow mindedness is never limited to a select group.
