I used to take aspirin because my foot doctor suspected that I could possibly be having blood clots in my calves. the symptoms are coming back. I heard that children taking aspirin can get a certain disease ( I think it is lyme disease).

Ok youare not supposed to take asprin while pregnant as it crosses the placenta and can cause baby to have thrombophilia and require witamin K shots at birth. I took low dose asprin to reduce the effects to my babies. You need to be on heparin while pregnant as it does NOT cross the placenta to cause harm to baby. Talk to your OB and see what can be done. Maybe you need to be tested for thrombophilia. It is not any more painful than a regular blood stick. Your Dr. should put you on high risk as blood clots can form in the placenta causing no blood flow to the baby. My first child was still born due to this problem and I was monitored closely in my subsequent pregnancies. This is very serious. You may need to seek the advice of a maternal fetal specialist one that is familiar with Blood clotting disorders. mine was factor 8 VIII. Good luck! Email me if you have any more questions.
People are telling you to take tylenol it has no blood thinning properties. It is a pain reliever. Please see your Dr. ASAP it is of the utmost importance!

You can take it in small amounts, if your doctor has prescribed it for you KNOWING THAT YOU ARE PREGNANT. If the doctor doesn't know you are pregnant, then don't take it until you have consulted with him/her.

It can't give you lyme disease, that's caused by tick bites and contact with rat feces in water. You can, however, develop Reyes' disease from aspirin use.

Don't take it until you have seen the doctor. If you suspect you have a clot in your calf right now, then go to the ER and get it dealt with, or see your GP first thing tomorrow morning. Don't risk it.

Strange diagnosis by your doctor. Here in the UK we check the blood itself for its 'clotting factor' if we suspect a problem. You should not take ANY drugs while pregnant but 'drugs' include caffeine, nicotine, alchohol so an odd aspirin is hardly going to be here or there if you drink or smoke or inhale weedkiller or insecticide. Relax and enjoy your pregnancy

Medications to Avoid
Most doctors will recommend that you do NOT take asprin, ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatories (like Advil or Aleve) while you are pregnant. They may cause complications, like bleeding, in your pregnancy later on. If you are taking any prescription medications, talk to your doctor before taking any more of these while you are pregnant
