No, it's not weird. You are aware of what you are studying, and in a sense you are seeing both sides of the coin at the same time.
In a way, to you, it's not all about good or evil, since you are prepared to learn about both.

As you already know if you study the history and practice of magic, both are sides of the same concept. Its essential to have light and dark, good is only seen as such because we have an awareness of what evil means and vice versa. A good deed for one person could be the worst thing you could do for another. Its all a matter of perspective. If you can achieve absolute balance in your studies you might have learnt something worthwhile.

There is no black or white magic, only power. The black or white comes from how you use the power. The big problem with magic is that it follows the Butterfly and Tornado Theory. A small mistake now can cause catastrophic consequences later. Please keep your practice under strict control and, above all, DON'T PLAY WITH THE WEATHER!!!

Yes, "magik" exist. Power exist. And the Evils mens who control this world knows it well. Manipulation, is illusion, is magic...Somehow, the Ancients Egyptian knew well how to manipulate the human mind. To control it, to enslave all of them. Isn't it magic? Science.
