Just to clarify, the "modem router" is not "on" your dell. Since you say it is a Westell, I guess you are not talking about a dial-up modem, that would be a small telephone plug on the back of your computer. Since you probably mean a DSL or Cable modem or router, that is a separate box, not built in to the dell. You connect your DSL or Cable line to it, then use network cable to connect it to your computer. The end of the network cable is a "modular plug" so it almost looks like a telephone pulg, but it is larger.
