you will always have to pay for WoW.
reason?
1) they put a lot of effort in creating the game.
2) every few months you have a huge patch with new things in.
3) they are hiring ppl to help you with any question in the game (the so called GM's - you have to send a ticket to them).
4) lot's off there ppl are reading and helping on the forums (you can see since there answers are blue)
5) probably more reasons like this but I can't thinking of more.
I don't think you have to pay that much if you think what effort they are making to keep us happy.

NO it will NEVER be free because it costs money to keep up the servers every month, I don't think that it takes $15 to do that. But Blizzard is making alot of $$$ on that. Actually is takes only about $5-$10 to maintain the servers, but the extra money is not a problem to some people. If you want a good game try Guild Wars Factions. It is free monthly but requires a purchase of the software.

i doubt that ANY must-pay online game will ever be free, because they need to keep their servers going, but the most biggest thing why is because they WANT TO MAKE A TON OF MONEY. the world revolves around money, and that's the ONLY reason why they want money for basically everything, so then they can get rich.

That's how most good RPG's are. You have to pay for UO also. If you want a free online RPG download Kal Online or Risk Your Life they are both free. Diablo is also a good RPG but you have to buy the disc.
