There are many types of dump valves, an air compressor for instance uses a dump valve to release air when the pressure builds to high.

broad question but from a hydraulic standpoint a dump valve releases hydraulic pressure, i.e. dumps the fluid into a resovior. let me know the application and i might be able to help

well u get a feeling that u need to poo so you go to the toilet and when you sit down your muscles in your annus loosen of and the valve opens then you do a dump
