Let's call the length 'l' and the width 'w'. The perimeter (the length of the boundary, if you like) is twice the length plus twice the width. Moreover, you are told length is twice the width. So, l = 2w.
Perimeter = 2l+2w = 4w + 2w. (since l = 2w)
that makes 6w. so 6w = 60, giving us w =10 meters. The length is twice this, 20 meters.
The area of a rectangle is the length of the rectangle times its width. This gives us 200 square metres for the area.

Let w = width
Then length = 2w (twice the width)
Perimeter = sum of all sides
making P = 2 x length + 2 x width
Substituting 2w for length, you have the following:
P = 2 x 2w + 2w
P = 6w
since the perimeter is 60, 6w = 60
Therefore, w = 10
The width is 10 meters and the length is 20 meters

well the length wil be 2x and the width x,
ok the length wil be equal to 20cm and the width is equal to 10cm each if u calculated the perimeter to make sure my dimentions are correct 20+20+10+10=60 and by that u satisfied the condition that the length is twice the width ,
second: the area of a rectangle is 1/2base x height which is
1/2 x 20 x 10 = 100cm. good luck

So your first step is in figure out what the equation is. You need to restate this problem algebraically.
Its length is twice its width: l = 2w.
The perimeter is all lengths and widths added together, so it's 2l + 2w, and it's 60meters.
So, 2 lengths, which is 2 times 2w, plus the two widths equals 60.
Can you take it from here?

let width of rectangle=x
so length of rectangle=2x
perimeter(P)=2(length+breadth)
60 = 2(2x+x)
30=3x
x=30/3
x=10
so width of rectangle=10 units
length of rectangle= 2x
= 2*10
= 20 units
area(A)= lengthxbreadth
= 20x10
= 200 square units.

If width is x, then length is 2x. Perimeter is 2 lengths and 2 widths, which we're told is 60 meters.
x + x + 2x + 2x = 60
6x = 60
x = 10 metres = width
2x = 20 metres = length
area = length * width = 10*20 = 200sq metres
