Frankly sixteen years is to old. Parts will not be available to fix the car and r-12 A/C issues Many parts for that car are just gone. Safety?cars now use air bags which really help in collisions. 16 year old Tercel had only seat belts. Very small car up aginst a Chevy Silverado in a wreck. First car for a kid should be something you would also like to drive that way the kid takes care of it. Even better get that child a job and let him or her buy what they want
