A quote with a metaphor... you know... a sentence with like or as... (or is that the simile)?
Don't matter.
Look up the definition of metaphor, then grab your copy of The Old Man and The Sea (or search for one online) and look for the metaphor.

It was about an old fisherman that catches a huge fish and his battles against the sea. By the time he gets back to land, the sharks have eaten all of the fish and the only thing left is the skeleton. My mom read it to me, at my insistence, when I was in Kindergarten, and it traumatized me. I did not think it was fair that he went through all of that to end up with a skeleton, but what did I know at the age of five. I could be wrong, because it has been MANY years since the book has been read to me, but I think the basic gist of the story is keep trying, don't give up, stay true to your dreams, and sometimes it is the journey that matters not the end result.

I think it was the one about catching a fish that gives him three wishes- and he gets really greedy and ends up losing everything.
