Because people hate waking up at 6 in the morning... being forced to sit in a chair for seven hours... listen to a teacher ramble on and on...
Same reason people hate working once they get a job.... because your not in control.. you have to listen to the teachers at school... and at a job you have to listen to your boss... most people hate authority and being told what to do.

I'm 17, I'm going into 12th grade and I hate school with a passion, I always have and always will. I just feel like the teachers aren't pushing us as much as they could. The useless stuff that they are teaching and the way they teach it is an insult to my intelligence. I hate how my school spends more time enforcing the dress code than making sure everyone is on the right track (grades wise). I probably wouldn't mind school so much though if it wasn't for the other students. I've been teased at school for about 7 years and that's only added to my hate for school. I can't tell you how many times I come home crying and what it's done to my self-esteem. School just makes me miserable and depressed and I can't wait for it all to be over. That's why I hate school.

Personally, I loved school when I was in school. My best guesses for why people don't like school are: 1. They are NOT used to structure and disciple and have a hard time adapting. 2. They are set up for failure. No one at home encourages them in their education so they have no help with homework, etc. and educational advancement. 3. The school work becomes to difficult for them and they are embarrassed. 4. Sometime their brains get fried from drugs and they can't think so well. 5. No one at home to encourage them and be pleased with their education and no good examples for why they need an education so they see no use to sit in class. 6. The work becomes beyond their capabilities to perform so rather than be embarrassed they try to act like they are too cool for school. 7. The rebellion is a form of negative attention. 8. They represent a society of forgotten children that are being passed by, falling through the cracks, and losing their innocence to the world of wickedness and unconcern.

I hate the people and the building. I hate having to learn things that I already learned three years ago and things that are irrelevant to my future career (biochemistry in medicine). I hate that I'm forced to continue with high school when I'll have all of my necessary credits next year (I have to go at least three years). I hate that I'm stuck with idiots who don't give a damn about learning. I hate that the only time I can take college classes (other than AP) is during the summer.

Plus some teachers are just straight @ssholes they yell at you, fail you, and they have a smile on there face while they do it.

Gosh!! I remember saying that all the time when I was in school!
It maybe having to wake-up early and then sitting in a classroom and all some really want to do is sleep or anything else other than school..
People use to tell me all the time,"Enjoy school now because when you are out you will wish you back there."
Well they were right... Enjoy it..
I'm glad you like school!!

OK. Get it right they may not hate school but they hate the classes and the hassles of school. The friends are cool just the classes and all their hassles bite the big one...

I never hated school when I was going to school ( Graduated in 1992.) Now I will say there were days I didn't want to be there. But, in the long run I enjoyed my school years!

The main complaint has forever been that school is " boring and irrelevant". Perhaps if they made school interesting and relevant people would enjoy it. It should be so interesting that people get up early to go there.
