my doctor was going to take one 10 days after ovulation.you dont have to wait till your period is missed at all as a blood test is very accurate and can detect pregnancy before a period is due.hope this helps.good luck!

You can usually get accurate results about a week before a home pregnancy test with a blood test. I am not sure that a doctor will give you the test, though, that early. They usually like for you to miss a period and take a home pregnancy test first. Good luck!

Blood tests should be accurate by about 8 days post ovulation. They are much more accurate than home pregnancy tests. So, you don't necessarily have to wait until you miss a period to get a blood test.

blood tests are more sensitive than the home pregnancy tests, so they should show a pregnancy sooner. Given that, you should be able to get one up to 5 days before you miss your period. Everyone's Hcg production is different, however, so it is possible that even a blood pregnancy test would come up negative that early and show positive a few days later.

I'd say wait a week...only because you may just be late by a few days for no reason at all (2-3days) and getting a test costs money even with health insurance (co - pay) so I think you are right wait a week if you still haven't gotten it ..then you just might be pregnant
good luck
