My friend wants us all to be in a rock band what is the best position? because the lead singer doesn't have to learn a musical intrument and the drummer just sits there in the back and the base player and the 2nd guitar don't do anything really. I think lead guitar or singer.

I am a musician and I recommend a position which really fits to you. That is to say: Choose an instrument you really can play. If you are a really good singer then your voice will be your instrument you should play on. Otherwise you should chose another instrument.
If you choose an instrument which you cannot play at all you will embarress yourself and the rock band will kick you out. So, please! Play what you really can play. Do not try to be a rock star but try to be a real well talented musician.

They're ALL good positions, drums and bass guitar are the backbone of the whole thing. Occasionally with the help of rhythm guitar. Infact, drums is possibly one of the hardest instruments you can play. And bass definitely is not easy if you want to learn it properly.

If you can sing, lead singer is best. oh yeah I think theres some rule that lead singers have to be good looking, otherwise its just coincidence.........

it sounds like a cute fun idea, but to sound good and impress people you really need to "audition" yourselves. In other words, you should all try all of the positions and figure out who's best at what then.
