ENGLAND won the 1996 FIFA World Cup when they beat WEST GERMANY 4-2 after extra time in the final. ENGLAND was the host nation at that time. Sir Geoff Hurst scored a hattrick during the final & he remains the only player to score a hattrick in the World Cup final.
