It may not be wrong but ck with your local police or wildlife rep. It may be a smart way to keep him out of your trash can but is it wise to feed that large of a wild animal so close to your house,NO!

Actually not only could it be against the law in your area to feed a bear, but you can also be cited if one of your neighbors reports you, and the bear later disrupts the neighborhood or hurts someone. You should actually call your local DNR and Sheriff about this question. Only they know the laws for your specific area.
Personally, you shouldn't feed the bear because then you are helping to keep it in the populated area, which can lead to a child being harmed or killed, pets being hurt or killed, or people in general.
What you can do is have your neighbors sign a petition asking the bear to be relocated into the wild, but not to put to sleep if it is no danger to anyone. Then present it to the DNR or Sheriff if they give you any trouble about not wanting to relocate it, or if they say they will just put it down.
Feeding animals human food can also make them prone to illness, such as developing diabetes, cavities, etc.

That will solve the short term problem, but you need to let a local game warden or animal control know about a 600 Lb bear. While they seem timid and friendly, they can be extremely dangerous with no notice at all.

Don't feed the bear! You should call the game warden so that he can be relocated away from people. Yes, you live in HIS woods, but it's still a bad idea to teach him that people are a source of food. That's when you hear about the family at the camp site being mauled to death. Please stop!

You are helping him to form bad habits. Ripping your garbage was bad enough because he began to equate humans with food, but now he may be reliant on your hand-outs. What if you stop leaving them? He might start breaking into houses for lunch. This can wind up with someone getting mauled and the bear being shot to death. He should be relocated somewhere far from people. Call the natural wildlife resources in your area and see what they will do.

This is not a very smart idea...you are attracting the bear and it will eventually land up hurting someone who is present near the food when the bear comes to eat it...
have you ever thought what if the bear comes when you are keeping the food? it is a very big risk that you are taking...

That's an interesting troll... The bear is now going to come to your house all the time and he's used to eating people food. Don't you think one day he'll decide he didn't get enough leftovers and maybe he'll help himself to some more from your trash? Or what if he forgets how to forage for himself and you move away?

So wrong! You can't leave enough food to feed it and it will only come closer.
Tell your local authorities and get a bear-proof garbage container. Start a neighbourhood group if you have to to raise money for bear-proof containers for everyone.

I think some people would be shocked to find you feeding the neighbourhood bare, others won't mind. Just for common decency though I'd suggest in future you put some clothes on.
However, before I come to a final conclusion, could a see a photo of you naked? I might change my mind.

It's wrong to feed the bear. It will keep coming back and if it has to be got rid of the only way to do it will be to shoot it, whereas if you didn't feed it there might be a chance it would go away and then wouldn't have to be shot.
