12 days after you start your period is the day you ovulate...

The highest? About 2 weeks after the start of your last period (not after the last day). But if you are on a longer or shorter cycle than 28 days (most people are) then it would be different.

You can get pregnant ANYTIME, not just when you are "ovulating" so don't take any chances. Either get on some birth control or never, ever have sexual contact without a condom. Even the tiniest bit of pre-ejaculate (what comes out before ejaculation) has millions of sperm and it only takes one sperm to make a baby.

In Oklahoma, the health department will give you free birthcontrol if you don't have insurance and super cheap birthcontrol if you do have insurance. See what programs your state has in place and you can probably get a price break on birthcontrol.

Whenever you ovulate.

Most women ovulate mid-cycle. Say you started your period on the 1st and your cycle is 28 days (meaning you get your period exactly 4 weeks after the first). In this case you would ovulate on the 14th of the month.

However, your cycle may be shorter or longer and you may ovulate either earlier or sooner than usual. But generally if you have sex a few days after your period ends, while on your period or a few days before your period is due you won't get pregnant. But it is not a foolproof method.

It is extremely rare for women to get pregnant on their period and some women that have spotting/bleeding and get pregnant are actually having that with ovulation. Having sex before or after your period is the same thing because if a woman has a normal cycle she usually ovulates 2 weeks before her period starts, which is usually 2 weeks after her period begins

Ovulation occurs in most women 12-16 days before menstruation begins (avg. 14 days). Ovulation can be detected by ovulation detection kits and basal body temperature graph plots. The shift from lower to highter temperature identifies ovulation. Home pregnancy tests may be positive as soon as the day of the missed period but it may take 17 days. I suggest you wait three days beyond the day you expect your flow to do the test. It may take a few months to begin ovulation after you stop the pill. The best time to have intercourse is the day before and a couple of days after ovulation, intercourse is recommended every other day.

In general, a woman ovulates( her egg descends into the fallopian tubes where it can be fertilized) on the 14 day after your period of a 28 day cycle. The egg lives for 24 hours. Sperm can live for up to 3 days.

When you are ovulating - count 14 days after the FIRST day of your last period. That's when you tend to ovulate for up to a week I believe. Don't use this as a birth control method though because every body ovulates at different times. You can take your temperate to help determine ovualtion also.

Within approximately 48 hours of ovulation. (usually equadistant from your periods, but can vary greatly.) If you are trying the rythm method, or whatever reason, the best thing to do is take your temperature first thing each morning, before you get out of bed. This is your basal temperature, and it is usually elevated from normal at the time you are ovulating.
