I like to have a clothes swap party but not enough friends. I thought by setting up a website would be easier.

But you do need some marketing ideas/plan!
I think there is some of these allready, I know in Tacoma, Wa there is one.

If you carry business under your own name, you don't need to get a business licence (neither in US or Canada). You'll use your own personal bank account for transactions and can write off business-related expenses. You can hire people, rent office space etc... Your taxes will be done once a year the same way they're done by individuals. However, if you want to do business under a name different from your own, you'll need to register your business. This can be done online with a credit card for a small fee.
