preferrably classic rock bands. for instance, i know the beatles didn't last very long together. but they made some amazing music.
and also, other famous bands that have been together for a fairly long time without breaking up. if so, who and how long?

The Rolling Stones 1962 and still Touring and putting out new music. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers 1973 got new CD coming out soon. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band 1973
