On my local PBS station I get only A handful of English programs most of them seem alittle old but I still enjoy them, Last of the summer wine, Keeping up appearances,My Family, Eastenders, and a couple more. Are these Englands favorite shows?

Last of the Summer Wine, is still in production and as far as I know its the world's longest running comedy programme. It is one of my favourites being a Northern Englishman. Although Keeping Up Appearances is no longer made, it is in almost continual repeat mode, and no matter how many times I see the episodes I still laugh my head off. British/English comedy, you can't beat it.

In England we are inundated with American TV programs, "Friends" is on every day&nearly all day. so now it sucks. David Letterman is on late at night and that sucks too but they are better than Eastenders try this game with your family watch 3 episodes Episode number 1- Count the amount of times someone smiles or laughs on the program(out of happiness not malice)
Episode 2. Watch your family's/friends expressions as they watch the program, they start to look real angry.
Episode 3. Hide in the closet, under the bed, in the dishwasher ,anywhere that you feel safe coz things are about to get nasty. All those bad vibes coming out of the TV will turn even your baby cousin Elmer into a Sudo Phil or Even scarrier Dot Cotton or God forbid Wellard.
My family sometimes watch Scrubs ,Six Feet under, Lost & Malcom in the Middle. Out of your list Keeping up appearances and My Family are ok for a Sunday afternoon if you have nothing better to do. There are 6 of us aged 10 to 50 TV isn't top of anyones list we prefer listening to music or going out for a walk or the beach.
Housewives, Quincey, Ironside,McCloud have to be the cheesiest American TV shows ever!!!! Britains Only fools and horses and Trisha are the worst programs in the world- My opinion but a lot of Brits I believe wouldn't agree. Coz 78% of Brits are Chavs innit?

We get friends, desperate houswives, hope and faith, 8 simple rules, jerry springer, ricky lake, scrubs, er, csi, without a trace and loads of others. I think alot of them are funny but some I don't, you can't like everything you watch. The most popular English programmes over here are Eastenders, Coronation street and Emmerdale these are all very similar. Last of the summer wine is a really old programme it's been going for years, I used to find it really runny when I was a kid but not so much now. I think alot of the programmes you can watch have the same sort of comedy sketches in so you need to have that sense of humour to watch them.

The vast majority of US sitcoms get shown in the UK, however it's more a case of "when".

We are usually months behind when it comes to new shows like Lost etc. While other channels show "king of queens" and so on. Many of these old shows are being shown for the first time here.

No. Little Britain (Comedy), Strictly Come Dancing (Ballroom dance competition) and Flog it (Antiques auction) are currently among the UK favourites.
