His ranch is surrounded by his neighbours he has known for years. It is impossible to drive county roads and not be seen by regular folks who live there, as every vehicle is known.
His bodyguards have their easiest time protecting the President there. It is more difficult when he travels around various urban environments and in other countries.

All Presidents of the United States, including former ones, are protected by the Secret Service, using the "assets" judged to be necessary for the occasion and the location. Incidentally, the agents limit their intake of liquids, thus reducing the occasions that any one of them has to be away from the President's side.

Yes, when one is elected President they always have secret service protection. It last even when they leave office. Carter and Ford still have it in fact, it last for life.

Secret service and snipers.
It's like at the white house. He has secret service everywhere with him and around the perimeter of the house and snipers hidden incase people breech the gate.
