it was after an argument. i feel i've forgiven them. i do nice things for them, and try to be as s supportive as i can. it's just when they get mad at me and say other things those words "i wish you'd died in the hospital" seem to resonate even louder than they did the first time they were spoken. afterwards i feel stupid for ever being bothered with them again. i never throw those words back in their face or casually mention it, because i know that won't help my issue and will only cause more hard feelings. sometimes it seems that having a forgiving spirit is more hurtful to me than it is a good thing to have. i've been this way all my life and i keep getting stepped on.

ok i have the forgiving spirit also, and yeah it does hurt, you want to forgive em, try, and they just keep hurting you(im goin throught this type of thing right now also) but i think that unless they change you should really try to ignore the person. Or explain to them that it really hurts you, and you would like to forgive em, but if they just keep sayin those things to you, you might wanna consider distancing urself from the person. Im still wishin i could take my own advice. doesnt it hurt having the forgiving spirit in you, and it hurts you, instead of being good. :(

That is an awful thing to say to someone. I know you are afraid to mention it but you need to tell them that you remember them saying this and how it made you feel and how it is still affecting you. This is something you need to get out in the open in order to get past it. Then after it is said, you both can decide whether this person is important enough to remain in your life. I feel for you. I have a forgiving spirit also. My ex husband had a stroke and I could even imagine someone saying something so mean to such a wonderful person.

If it is someone whom you can cut from your life, do so. It just isn't worth it to have this sort of pain in your life.

If it is a spouse, child, parent or sibling, relationship counseling is in order ASAP.
