You must take your girl to the pediatrician so she can get tested for any hormonal disturbances that may be the underlying cause of these early menarche [first menstrual period]. As for giving any medication to postpone it, I don't think there are any available; it may involve giving large doses of synthetic hormonal compounds [such as birth control pills] to a so young a girl. The risks associated to the use of these medications at such an early age might out-weight any benefits, unless it's absolutely necessary to treat and/or normalize your girl's hormonal problem [if there is any problem at all]. For the time being, just explain to your girl that it is completely normal for all females to experience this kind of bleeding every month; that in her case it started a couple of years before it usually does and for this reason you must take her to the doctor to do some tests in order to make sure that everything's okay with her; and teach her how to use sanitary protection such as pads. I wish that everything turns out all right and that your girl is otherwise healthy, with nothing more serious than a case of an early onset of menstruation. Blessings, and I hope that my advice has been of help and comfort to both you and your girl.

While there is a chance it could be her period starting, the odds are unlikely though that it's a true period. It's normal for one to try and start, and then to fade away for a few more years. She should still be examined though.
Vaginal bleeding can have causes such as molestation, curious exploring (some kids poke or prod down there with fingers or toys which can leave scratches or cuts, or a torn hymen), a naturally ripped hymen (falling or stretching, gymnastics, even riding a bike can sometimes tear a young girls hymen which causes some bleeding), a cyst that has ruptured (these are very normal in females by the way), and various other medical reasons such as a thyroid disorder, or a urinary tract infection (usually it's sever to cause bleeding).
Period or not, she needs to be examined by her ped's Doctor. This is very important, especially during the time she is bleeding. This way he or she can determine the actual cause, and document it in her medical records.
The Doctor would be the one to ask about any kind of delaying hormone or pill if it is indeed her menses (period) trying to start already. The most important thing is to let the Doctor (at this point) rule out other medical causes for the bleeding.
Your child's life isn't a gamble, so take her in to the Doctor or the Emergency Room if your Doctor is closed today. Call Doc and he/she will tell you to take her to ER, or bring her in on Monday.

You should take her to the pediatrician. There's something called precocious puberty that she may have causing early signs of puberty she shouldn't have yet. There are treatments for it. Or it may not be a period. She could have something else wrong like a urinary tract infection. A doctor needs to see her to find out what it is. Good luck. Hope she's okay.

There is a thing called viginal bleeding which appears to be a period then it stops for a long time and may start up again.
I say take her to a doctor because I HIGLY doubt that it is her period. I thought I had my first when I was ten but I didn't. It wasn't my period, more like vaginal bleeding.
Take her to a doctor ASAP.
Good luck.

Any surprise bleeding should be checked out by a medical doctor to determine the cause. Do not wait to go for an examination as this could be something serious. Watch for sexual abuse from someone.

While unusual it isn't uncommon. Lots of kids start earlier and earlier. You should consult her Dr and see what's available. The one situation I know about didn't have any type of medicine she could take to delay it. Mother nature is mother nature! In the case that I knew about, they put her on birth control to help regulate it. Good Luck

It's natural, it just happened, no big deal, she'll get over it. To postpone it will only harm her even more then a couple of stressful days here and there. Don't postpone it, you'll wish you didn't.
