If your windows are covered by a warranty you would make it null and void by drilling a hole in window frame. An alternative maybe to drill a diagonal hole through the outside brick work adjacent to your upvc window frame.

What is the hole for anyhow; is it so you can get Satellite television? If so get advice from the people installing the equipment.

Happy drilling!

you really should drill through the wall. I know the window is easier but the wall is the correct method. When you come to sell your house, a drilled window frame will look very amateur and affect your valuation. You can hide a wall drilling much easier.

As you are putting a wire outside, you need some kind of circuit breaker in case the rain gets into your light.

What type of wire are you using?

If you are using romex, you can't do this because romex can't be installed where subject to physical damage.

If you are installing coaxial cable or phone/computer cable, this is not the proper way to do this. You should drill into the wall, below the elevation of the electrical receptacles in the room. You want to drill below the elevation of the receptacles to hopefully avoid drilling into the romex in the wall. Then install a TV/satellite or phone/computer jack at the same height as the receptacles in the room. Before pushing your cable through the wall, be sure to install the feed-through bushing on the outside.

Yes and no, if the windows are new then you will invalidate the warranty, if they are old or have no warranty then this isn't a problem, just make sure that you don't catch the glass and the seal or else you will be in big trouble.

you will have to bung up the hole and insulate the cable well, remember that the plastic is only a covering, the frame is aluminium inside so it will scrape the insulation off if you are not carefull....
im an electrician an i would never do it, there is a perfectly good wall next to it to obliterate.

good luck.

After you put the wire through the hole, make sure you put some kind of putty, or something,in the hole, so it will not leak, when it rains..good luck..

Should be fine but if its double glazed make sure you don't drill into the sealed unit between the two panes of glass or they'll be useless.

Yes you can aslong as its away from the window pane.
Use a small drill bit and use tape.

I don't see why not, it's just plastic and you're smart enough to miss anything critical. I would use a silicon caulk or sealant around the wire.
