Yes.Behind the scenes. And I think it will happen in some form or another. In terms of timescales I would guess after they have managed to get the troops (or majority of) out of Iraq. Dubya wants Iran for its oil and gas and he doesn't want other countries muscling in and getting the lucrative contracts and not the US.

So now he is trying to get the support in the US and internationally behind the scenes. Once he has that you will hear the strong public statements about Iran being bad, evil, intent on destroying the world etc. He will campaign on the fact that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons, creating instability in the region, supports Al-Quaida and wants to destroy israel.

Not so much right now. The blow up in Israel distracted our media. Then the arrests in Great Britian took them by surprise. The rhetoric on Iran has died down, but it continues to be a real threat to the USA. Unlike Iraq. If Bush hadn't lied to get us to go to Iraq, Americans would still support him. But he blew his load with us. His party will lose power in a few months with the next election and then he is a lame duck for two years.

I am not sure what is going on with the campaigning but remember U.S. did not have direct relationship with Iran for 30 years and in my opinion it is about time to have a communication with them before we start any action.

No. I am thinking his administration has gotten smart enough to realize that taking action without consensus (international and at home) leads to plicy disasters and a lack of support. Frankly, I doubt he could pull it off with any but his staunchest supporters, so I think he is not even trying. In addition, the military is stretched thin, and another large scale mission such as that would further hurt morale and recruiting.

It's a shame he did not have his father's skills at international relations.

Actually Iran would be an easier fight than Iraq....many of the young people in Iran would love to see their government overthrown......Since this new crazy guy has taken over...many have seen their lives destroyed by the new regulations put in place. The people of Iran lost a lot of freedoms these last couple of years, and if you remember the mass protests right before mini Hitler took over.

As far as troops stretched to thin.....just go through Iran on our way back home...geez their right next door.

Strongest military...yeah right...that's what they said about Iraq too....takes more than numbers to be strong.

Dubya will campaign for any war he can. He loves wars, it makes him and his rich friends even richer. He will probably find some excuse to invade Cuba.

Yes, but I doubt it will happen. We don't have the resources to start a war with every Islamic nation, nor do we have the support of enough non-Islamic nations. If we keep screwing around over there, we will be in a war with the biggest religion on earth. (1/4 of the world's people are muslim.)

No. The threat of attack is nil due to the Iraq failure. And Iran knows this.
