I want to be able to host many high-traffic websites for people, and allow them to run scripts, keep a database, etc. What all is involved? What kind of servers, platform, connection, performance etc do i need? Will I need to buy my own T1 line? What do companies that provide web hosting usually have to have in order to operate? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would thing a T1 would be the minium. What you need exactly will depend on how much traffic you anicipate and how you plan on backing up.

There are so many large companies doing this for realitively little, I might sub it out...

For best SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION results I recommend making use of Google Search Bot: http://is.gd/gsbsoftware Employing that software I've got graded our internet site to very first page of Google on a high competing key phrase.
