I know this may sound pretty old fashioned but I think it's really mean and rude to wear white to someone elses wedding. The bride should be the only one to stand out on her day and when/if you get married you wouldn't want someone to wear something that would take away from you. If you're not old fashioned like that but really want to be sure and you're friends with her call the bride and ask her if she wouldn't mind. But I think light colors like pale pinks, blues, or yellows is a great idea. If you're worried about being mistaken for a brides' maid find out what colors they will be wearing and don't choose that color. Congrats to the bride and hope you catch the bouquet :D

White wouldn't be one of the best choices to choose to wear to any kind of wedding. A better alternative to wear to a hot summer wedding would be light pastels or a floral print summer dress that way you will still look fashionable and not be a look a like bride.

Pale pink/yellow is okay. I wouldn't recommend wearing white. You might think about wearing a nice skirt and blouse combo. and if you have the money -- back to school sales are happening right now, as well as, seasonal sales. You might run by Target and see if you can cash in on a smashing new outfit that you can wear not only to the wedding, but everyday.

When I got married... my mom is a large lady and the only dress I found that didn't look horrible was a white suit dress with sequine. She looked beautiful and I felt wonderful seeing her look so happy with how she looked. I watch the video and I think it was a great decision. How could anyone out look the bride? Talk to the bride, is my suggestion. See how she feels about it. Maybe she will want to see the dress and decide.Good luck and have fun.

Only the bride should wear white. The reason is because all the attention should be to her and if you wore white, the attention could possibly be drawn to you. I would recommend a light blue (more so teal or turquoise) or a peachy pink dress. The colors are feminine, classy, and they will keep you cool (depending on the fabric).

This is an old wives tale!!! You absolutely can wear white but I would make sure that you add splashes of color with pins, jewlery, purse and flowers in your hair. If people can not differenciate between you and the bride (who wears a long, flowing white dress) they need to have their eyes checked or step away from the open bar!!! I'm sure you will look beautiful but wear what you feel comfortable with!!! Have fun!

They say it is okay to wear white to a wedding as long as you do not try to show up the bride, but personally I think that the Bride should have her special day and be the only one in white, call me old school.

My son in basic terms have been given married - no person wears white different than the bride. in case you hit upon some thing that fits, is dressy and you could discover the money for - it is a miracle. it may be particularly crummy to get to that factor and characteristic or not it is the incorrect shade! Took me WEEKS and weeks to discover the astounding factor. Now staring on the marriage photos, i'm uncertain something I wore could have looked ok. :(

Sure, wear white if you hate the bride and want to annoy the heck out of her.
White is disrespectful. So's black -- traditionally, people wore black to weddings to show that they disapproved of the marriage. Maybe most younger people don't mind but some of the grandmas and aunties will get annoyed!

I have been told that it is not proper to upstage a bride on "her day" by wearing a white dress.
Wear something that is appropriate to the setting and be as comfortable as you can be.
