smoke outside.
Unfortunately the smell is in the walls, carpeting, furniture, that's why air fresheners aren't working. I suggest painting and getting the carpet, curtains and furniture cleaned, but if you don't smoke outside the smell will be back again.

Smoke OUTSIDE! I am a smoker too and I never smoke up my nest. And believe me, I know that smoking doesn't mean you LOVE the habit, or love the smell, even if it makes you salivate when you have tried to quit.
Washing or dry cleaning window treatments helps. Clean carpets and rugs.
You could wash the walls with Murphy Oil Soap. LOTS of tar and stink gets into the walls, and you will be surprised how it brightens up some, even if there will still be stains.
You could burn candles, there are smoke eater candles. And then there are scented rocks, pot pourri, and essential oil mixes you can make in a spray bottle with distilled water. VERY cheap in the long run. Lots of essential oils (get them at the health food store) are known for their deodorizing properties, and they all have a distinct smell so you can probably find one you like.
You could try a smoke eater or tough odor air freshener like stickups. Put one under the table nearest your fav chair where you smoke.
Febreze for fabrics, I have them all over the house and one in the car, and one in the laundry room. Spray it on carpets too.
Baking soda makes a great carpet fresh substitute, it is unscented of course and a real stink puller. Do this before you spray Febreze around.
Do you only have ONE window? Do you have a screen door to let in some fresh air once in a while? Try to set up a cross ventilation between your door and a window, using your AC unit to blow air OUT or just turn it on vent instead of cooling for an hour or so a day. It will start an air current in the house that will freshen the air better than any chemical.

Try cleaning the carpets? I'm guessing it could absorb some of the smell? Maybe? My dad smokes and the whole house smells of smoke. It's the nicotine that gets all over the walls. That's the worse part. Sticky, yellowy film. (sorry, but true). You would also have to wash the walls down with dish washing soap to cut the stickiness and smell. Good Luck! I know this because I helped my mom get a room ready for my sister (non-smoker) to live in. The room was where he had his computer.

place a shallow bowl about 3/4full of white or cider vinegar in the room where the scent is strongest, or use several bowls throughout the house if needed. The odor should be gone in less than a day. You can also dispense of fresh cigarette smoke inside a room by moistening a cloth with vinegar and waving it around a bit.

I've used it a lot!

Change your air conditioner filter. Put out bowls of vinegar this helps take the odor away. Vaccuum your carpet sprinkle baking soda on the carpet before vaccuuming. You can buy this new containers that spray automatically (it has a timer and runs on batteries) I believe Glade makes them. You can buy the in citrus or lavender spray scented. LOL Oh you can mix vinegar and water on a towel wring dry and swish it through the air and this will deodorize and take the smell of cig smoke out of the room...I hope all this memos will help you!

You'll see a lot of air-freshenning products. But all they do is mask the problem: They don't tackle it at its source.
Since you don't want to quit, you might indeed want to smoke outside. Inside, scrub all the glass down with white vinegar, wash your curtains, soak any blinds you might have in bleach or lysol, and use bleach or lysol to wash down the rest of your place. And let it air out. Tobacco products are an 'agressive' odor. You have to be agressive back in getting rid of it.
Good luck!

One sure fire way of getting rid of the smell.
Start by washing the ceiling, the walls, all of the light fixtures & then the carpet.
Use lemon scented pine sol, that should cut the smoke smell.
Use tide w/ febreeze that should help your clothes that hang in your closet.
Change the filter in the airconditioner.
Good Luck.

Try scrubbing the carpet and cleaning any curtains you have hanging.
Clean the heck out the place, open up the apt., open all the windows and doors and air the place out for a day or two.

regularly wash all soft furnishings, air the rooms as much as possible, windows an doors to create a through draft. empty all ashtrays at night (not if you have just used it of course) sprinkle baking powder in bottom of clean ashtrays, absorbes the smell, also sprinkle it on your carpets every fortnight, before you go to bed, hoover in the morning. don't forget, nicotine sticks to glass-TV screens, windows an mirrors.
