I live in ohio, my dad just asked my hubby and I to move to AL with him and his gf. They OWN a house down here already and if we move we would be staying with them and it would be rent free. Its a BIG step, we would be leaving all our friends, my mom who is sick and the rest of my family, I'm not to big on all my family. But we would get a fresh start and we would be able to be better off down there, I'm very confused please help.

Well, Alabama is a great place. Lots of beautiful scenery, nice hospitable people and lots to do and see. Great music of all kinds and things to do if you know where to look. Great places to live in Alabama include Birmngham, Huntsville, and Mobile.

That being said, Ft. Mitchell is about as remote as you can get from the nice parts of Alabama. It is removed from most big cities. The closest two cities are Montgomery and Dothan. Dothan is a neat small town, but Montgomery is pretty horrible.

On the plus side, you would be only an hour and a half from the beach.

So if you really do move to Alabama consider moving somewhere within an hour or so of your dad without being in Fort Mitchell.

Good luck!

Your phrase "my dad just asked my hubby and I" is incorrect. If you can say "My dad asked me," then you can just as easily and correctly say "My dad asked my hubby and me..."

Anyway, if it's a fresh start you might consider that with Fort Mitchell being close to Fort Benning, there are more jobs maybe than where you live. Consider whether you want to leave your jobs and friends. Also think of the climate, which is much warmer and more humid.

Make a list on a large sheet of paper. Put pros and cons. Write what are the plus items under pros, and what would be the negatives under cons, both of leaving where you live now and of moving in with your father. Does your husband get along with your father? Do either of them drink or do drugs? Will you have enough privacy?

Moving in with your Dad and his girlfriend because you wouldn't be paying rent might be a very expensive mistake, if for no other reason than the guilt you might feel abandoning your sick mother. Better think this over very carefully before making a decision. Good luck, hon.
