You should tell him that you only get a few times to chase your dreams. Tell him that your prepared for the worse outcome and you're willing to take the risk just for a shot of following a dream. Tell him you won't loose sight of what you need to do to become responsible. You can not get upset everytime you converse with him about it and he give you his negative views. Communication takes patience and consideration. You must act mature as you feel his side and think what points of interest would change his view (as if you were him). By showing disgust for his opinion gives a bad atmosphere for further convos and also lets him know you haven't learned to become responsible, independent, and reasonably expressive. Become his good friend and i'm sure he'll start to understand. Break down the barriers that has separated the two of you. GOod luck and hope to see you on TV!

You can tell your dad that you are a great singer. Maybe he would let you go on American idol.

Well just be straight up with him...although if he's anything like my dad...just give him time to think it over and dont be askin all the time cuz that will just make him thick-ER headed. I say ...tell him the real stuff..have a good talk with him

It's obvious that he knows that you don't sing very well but he won't tell you the truth because he doesn't want to hurt your feelings.

Your dad loves you, I would just drop the issue.
