It is a 13 year old birthday party

the colors are bright pink, light orange, and lime green.

The party will be during late afternoon/night (ends at 10 pm) and it will be dark for majority of the party. I'm Planning on putting xmas lights up, but how can I hang them creatively?

The party is outdoors.

Please help! If you have suggestions on creative ways to do streamers, ect. or get the birthday person's name in lights, please post!!
dare I say this, but it should remain *fairly* cheap

Any help is appreciated!!!!!!

id say if its outside maybe hang them in the trees alittle or if you have a fence kinds string them along there or on the fence kinda staple the lights into patterns like a stars. for when it gets dark out you can get torches, maybe it will help keep the bugs way, the colors sound pretty good. you can also hang streamers in the trees. you can always turn decorating kinda fun by having your 13 yr old help too. ask he or she what they would want to see, that may help. you cant get any better advice because if they like it you know the other kids will like it too.

If you have one of those canopy tents, or parking shelters you can find them at Walmart or Kmart for under $100, you can string lights up around the inside and the edges of the canopy. And run streamers from side to side. This way, it will be lit up underneath and in case it rains, hopefully not.. you will have shelter.

If you are worried about the price of the tent, you could always use it and then return it... shhh... I didn't tell you to do that... but I used to work at the return counter, and I know that goes on. Just say it didn't fit where you needed it to... lol..

Maybe you have a Dollar Tree store in your area, but they have cute party decorations and things that you can use, and everything is $1.

first of all decide on where the lights should be hung on the wall of the house. if you want to do the name of the birthday person you should decide what color of lights all the rest should be white. hang the lights in trees and the shrubery, on the table out line the table with lights. as far as streamers you should try to purchse the pink and orange streamers and you can make them to be plaited or just twisted them. and hang them from branches ( if they are low enough) go online to the web and get party ideas.

On a newspaper trace name the size you want it..
take a roll of thread, roll out the thread follow the tracing
then measure the thread to find a length

add 24 inches to the length so if your lengh was 12 inches
your new length would be 36 (extra is to correct for mistakes
and make hooks or something to hang name with)

go to the hardware store and ask to buy x length cheap wire.

take wire back to tracing, wrap wire with streamer (some scotch tape) & bend wire to fit tracing. Pin lights to wire (do not wrap lights or let them touch paper - both can be fire hazard)
Hang lighted wire , plug in enjoy. ps with some streamer paper & wire you can also make some small paper roses to tuck in spots make better looking (again should not touch lights)

Yeah, I think you should go ahead with your xmas lights idea, but it kinda depends on the color of the lights. If you are to synchronize your color schemes which is bright pink, light orange, and lime green, then i suggest you to find xmas lights with that color or if not, just paint it or use markers.

What else..oh yes, get ribbons with the 3 colors of your choice and start twiddling the 3 ribbons and hang around the wall/corners. *sweet*

And if you want to have your name or party title to look glow-in-the-dark, try to get your hands on the black lights. I did this for one of my events and the alphabet (made from polysterene) of event goes glow-in-the-dark thru the black lights. And if you set up your party dress code to white, you'll be amaze to see most of their garments turns out to look glow-in-the dark.

I hope these tips would help you with the party. Be creative, have fun and good luck!

I would go for Arabian Nights take all the pillows and blankets outside get a canopy thing put the lights around it. Go to any music store find some music middle easternish with sitars in it. make an oasis cake and fruity drinks serve some cool sounding eastern dishs and find some oasis themed toys.

How about this If you've rented an awning you could arrange the light strings in a lattice pattern or even a spider web pattern with a hanging centerpiece. All you need is a bunch of clothes pins to hang them with.

Some party stores sell patio lantern type things for cheap. we used a canopy one year and decorated the inside of that with clear x mas lights it was really pretty, we also had ice buckets with ice outside of it filled with pop and juice..
