When you cramp during ovulation, the "egg" has burst out of the follicle and through the overian wall, because of that some women will experience some mild cramping on either side of the overies. This is a sign that you're fertile now, and should be for another day or so.

As a general rule females tend to ovulate 14 days after thier period. Ovulation is a 4 day window. Remember though that sperm live outside the male body once ejacualted for 72 hours. So sex days before ovualtion could leave a female with live sperm in here vaginal canal ready for ovulation. This is all called the Rhythmn method of birth control or family planning. Whichever is your goal. Some women do get mild flanking cramps or sensations during ovulation. Some women feel nothing and have no idea they are ovulating. Sex drives peak at this time as a natural incentive to have sex. That is why although ovulation is only a few days so many people still manage to have sex at just the right time.

it would indicate you will be ovulating...there is a condition called mittelschmritz syndrome (sp?) that can occur just before, during, and just after ovulation. When you ovulate, a little bit of fluid is expelled with the egg and may cause, in certain women, cramping or pain. It's not serious, and the fluid is reabsorbed by the body. It's common. Best way to test your ovulation is with a basal temperature thermometer which you can buy at the drugstore. The instructions are on the carton and this will help you to gauge your ovulation times.
