I think the answer has to do with the fact that the USA has no business in Iraq.
It's way past time to do as the British have always done in such situations:
Have a parade.
Declare victory.
Evacuate.

I'm afraid it is the only way, now. I'm not a conservative, and definitely anti-Iraq war, but I don't see any other way that has a hope of success. Somehow, the situation in Iraq has to be stabilized, and some semblance of normalcy returned, or our troops will never be able to leave. The only way to do that is to make the country secure, and the only way to make the country secure is from the inside out. That means going door-to-door, clearing out weapons and fighters as they are found, and leaving enough troops in place along the way to prevent their return. Since the idiotic decision to start a war was made, it should have been done from the outset. Now the task is many times larger and more dangerous than it would have been if the jokers calling the shots had realized this years ago.
Freedom isn't even in the picture. The average Iraqi citizen hasn't been free since the first bombs dropped, and they won't be for some time to come.
As far as the "freedom isn't free" crap, I always thought that was a pretty arrogant statement, coming from those who took the Iraqi's choices away.

Yes it is the enemy are hiding in these buildings and so must be cleared,the enemy are not strong enough to fight on a conventional battle field,you must remember the so called enemy are terrorists with no qualm for human life these butchers are killing other Iraqi's because of religion,and personal vendettas nothing more,the suicide bombers they use are filled with drugs and brained washed into believing they are going to a better life,without the brainwashing and drugs,the enemy would certainly not be having a rush on men and women to kill themselves
