Why isn't he still in the Bond films? Lets face it, everybody since him sucked. Even if he is getting on a bit, surely with our technology we could just CGI some brown hair on him.
Why don't they bring back Connery?

I'm with you. He had a rugged look and would get beat up once in awhile. These other clowns just strut around, use gadgets, and crack poor jokes. At least Sean Connery would break sweat to get the job done, get dirty, and so on. The closest these other goofs come to getting their hair mussed up is when the waitress walks by too close with another drink. They remind me of Inspector Gadget, all fancy technology, no soul or strength. They need to get the Bond storyline back down to reality, and get a real person to play the part again. But, then again, there's only one Sean Connery, and damn, he's a good actor.

Apparently Connery was getting tired with the role by "You Only Live Twice," and opted not to do Bond anymore. He was coaxed out of "retirement" to do "Diamonds Are Forever".

While I think some of Connery's turns as Bond were outstanding ("From Russia With Love," "Goldfinger"), I respectfully disagree that he's the only "true" Bond. George Lazenby did a commendable job on "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," a film that could cause fistfights among Bond fans due to the deep camps regarding roles and styles of movies. I've been watching the Bond films in order, and am just about to delve into the Roger Moore era, so my opinions are sure to change the further I get into the series.

Connery was good, but there comes a time when he had to go. he got too old and did not fit the profile of 007 anymore. so he had to pass the baton. hopefully Craig can do something good, personally i feel that Brosnan should have done one more, like the original plan was.

Connery, yes, the true bond. The rest not only stunk, but they also robbed the name. No imagination I guess.

bond films are based on the books (or were)....

Connery is now an old man,

Would he still fit the part for a dashing, young agent whos fit and athletic??

I think not.

James Bond is just a fictitious character. The character doesn't belong to any one actor. I always preferred Roger Moore, but I wouldn't expect him to be able to be able pull off the role now, at his age.

OHMSS was probably the best bond film. it's just like the book and Lazenby was close to Fleming's creation! We have all the time in the world to discuss that one.
