I have loved my best friend for a while now. Two weeks ago he told me that he loves me too. Then, a couple days ago he said that he needs to think for a while.
Details:
*We live 6 hours apart
*His need to think coincided with going back to school
*He has never been in a relationship, I have been in a long relationship.
*I just want him to be happy, even at the cost of my own happiness.
*When my schooling is through, I want to be a medical missionary, we had always talked about going together, but on Thursday he said that he doesn't think that is his calling and he wants to be a webprogrammer for a ministery.
*We've been best friends for years.
*We are close in age.

As blunt as it sounds there is no long term relationship here. You are both young, and have different goals in your life. You sound like you are good friends, and I think you should remain as that. Keep in touch, but keep distant. You both know each other and can help each other through good and bad times. But I would suggest talking and going your separate ways now when things are good as opposed to bringing things to a complete end all of a sudden.

u know,i think he has just realised that he is been wrong to commit all that to ya.he is more afraid than anything that he has taken a wrong step.&that is no true friendship.in a true one v r always sure of each other &never falter.u seem 2 be a nice grl .so,why not try someone else?he has been no worthy frn,i believe,if he has got sorta irritated with u,now.he is not seriously committed to u.persuing with him is not going to help u.what if he gats irritated after marriage?

You are one special girl, I have not come across many girls who openly admit that they would put the happiness of their boyfriend ahead of their own happiness. You are indeed a rare find. I hope your boyfriend know how much you love him, before he does something stupid.
