Buy an all vegetation killer, or you could buy an Ivy killer, specifically designed to take care of problematic ivy including poison ivy.

I bought some stuff at the local farm store called "Scorcher" which is made by "Enforcer". It's a vegetation killer that comes in a red jug. We bought this house and found a layer of poison ivy behind the garage three feet high and six feet wide. The darned stuff had even vined up the side of the building and had started taking over the roof. Thick, old growth vines too. I mixed that "Scorcher" a bit stronger than what it called for, wore protective clothing, and sprayed that mess with a pump sprayer. It wiped it out, except for a couple of tiny spots which I hit again a couple months later. None's come back since for three years, which is good because I'm horribly allergic to that vine.

Ortho- Brush Be Gone- Poison Ivy Killer It mixes in a garden sprayer and works way better than any round up. It will kill all of it. Cut the leaves and growth and spray with this stuff and you will have no more forget the roots the will die.

DO NOT BURN POISON IVY!!!! The smoke will get into the air and ANYONE who breathes it in WILL get poison ivy in their throat and have to go to the hospital. Wear protective clothing and pull it. You can try one of the weed killers suggested by the others. My normal killer is pouring gas on it, but with the price of gas these days, it's cheaper to buy Roundup.

Last summer, I cut them down, removed as much of the roots as I could then I sprayed Roundup all around the area.... so far none has grown back this year.

Like the others said... use PLENTY of protection if you are allergic to the annoying weed. And if you burn it, remember that the smoke can get into your lungs and causes the same effect internally as it does externally and really hurts like heck! been there done that!!

Good luck and God bless

Best way to get rid of poison ivy is spray -- don't touch it. Crossbow spray is better than Roundup for woody plants, in my opinion.

There is a long range spray available as poison ivy/oak killer. It is systemic and will kill almost any plant it touches. Good stuff!

Weed killer like Round up. Do not touch them without being fully covered and gloves even for dead one removal.
