Hi Boss,
I am 32 and I HAD!!! a company and could not stay focused. If you want to listen to my answer it would be to consider that being chased around by the ATO etc is not fun when you know that you have not held your dues properly along the way, you can't sleep right when you realise you have not done the books thoroughly and have to start muddling with old work. DO NOT DESPAIR THOUGH - STAY FOCUSED by thinking of the positive side of the tax write off scheme, It may seem boring and frustrating to do the books but it beats being employed any day. YOUR THE BOSS, THE FIRE CHIEF, THE BIG CHEESE etc. and when you have staff EVERYONE WILL LOOK UP TO YOU - you may not think so for a while but then all of a sudden you realise !!!!! THESE PEOPLE RESPECT ME FOR PUTTING IT ON THE LINE !!!!! because it is something that they didn't have the courage to do!! IT WILL FEEL GOOD and then you will be FOCUSED PLUS without realising it.
I tell you this as gospel beacuse it is only a week since losing my company due to lack of focus - It happened just a month after I managed to see straight and GOT THE FEELING!! and started to make a more thorough go of it. You have to understand that when you are a company, your customers are like bloodhounds for sniffing out weaknesses, so as to get a better price, and your employees can secretly swoop like vultures if they see that this thing (company) is dying and take it for themselves. But remember it CAN WORK and WILL WORK WELL if you put your concentration to it !!!!!!!
Good luck and best Regards,

Pete

First off make sure your company is a passion you truly love to do. That alone will keep you focused.

Sometimes you can reach "a wall" or "burnout" specially if you are self employed cause we put in so many hours. Every waking hour is a working hour to us more or less. Take a break...a vacation...anything just to get away 100%. No phone, no emails, no contact. Its like the old, centering your Zen again.

I own my own biz and have for 10 yrs now. Rarely do I take a break let alone a vacation but a few years ago I hit major burn out. I ended up closing up shop for 4 months in the winter during my slowest season and put myself on a beach in the south. I literally did nothing for 4 months but relax and enjoy myself.

Doing that has revived my spirt in biz and has allowed me to expand past my original business into areas that I never dreamed of before.

If you are not burned out and are just dealing with distractions...move your business or office. You have to have piece and quiet, no kids, no cars, customers, etc to be able to work properly and focus.

Sometimes a simple redoing of your office can give you new life as well. Break from your pattern and shake it up some.

Try to remember what motivated you to start the business in the first place, and what the alternative will be if the business crashes and burns. Reality is often a great motivator!

Get educated. Try to find the way to get the best courses to handle your business. Learn to stay focus.

Too many unknown variables to answer the question. Perhaps the old maxim..."look at the bottom line" would help you.

Without the profits, you are broke. If broke, no food, no shelter, no clothes...etc....get it?
