My dad has been through alot with his heart.. We are hoping this too shall pass. But we are concerned with the way the fibulator acted in his body. Is this normal, should that device shock him like that? Will he be ok?

17 times over how long? 17 times in a day or shorter is unusual and probably indicates that a wire slipped.

The defibrillator has two wires that go to the heart so that it can read what it is doing. When it senses an unusual rhythm it gives a tiny shock to the heart which is like hitting the reset button. This makes the heart beat correctly again.

A heart attack may not be related to the defibrillator. A heart attack simply means the heart is not getting enough blood. This can be due to an unusual rhthym which makes the heart not be a very good pump or it can be a tiny blood clot in one of the arteries or veins that supply the heart. Only his doctor can tell you which type of heart attack he had.

I hope he will be ok but no one can guarantee this. The best thing you can do is go and sit with him, let him know that you are there and you love him. Try to create fun things that HE likes to do to help him get through the day.

Love him like he'll be gone tomorrow but have fun like he'll live forever.
